UK’s first guidelines for food production in new developments

Brighton & Hove City Council is the first local authority in the UK to publish guidelines encouraging developers to include food-growing space in new building developments. The Food Growing & Development Planning Advisory Note (PAN) calls for rooftops, balconies, walls and surrounding land to be incorporated as landscaped areas for residents and local communities to grow their own food.

It will be interesting to see which jurisdiction is first to make this a requirement…
